One of my intentions this year is to live with more joy! Absolutely to feel it from inside out. To do that I need to find my joy spot! No not that one!!!!! Okay you should find that ONE LOL...but I shall leave instructions about that to more skilled practitioners...gosh I kill myself some days!!!!
I am talking about finding spots in your life and in my life that bring you and me joy. Those spots can be in our head or a physical place. My goal is to create as many as possible.
I for one minute will not say that life is not challenging? I am the one who may be homeless soon because my landlord died and my housing is up in the air....and I have just come out of an over two years period of darkness back into the light :)
But I know what sustained me was my faith, my circle of family and friends who stood by me and glimpses of joy that let me know life could...and would feel different again!
I am not sure I even realized the joy part during that time. When you feel like you are drowning on a daily basis you quite honestly don't take time to admire the life preserver that appears! You simply hang on to it...
But now I can say from a vantage point outside that whirlwind..it was glimpses of joy that gave me hope. And so in that spirit...I am looking for the joy!
I am creating joy spots in my life. If something doesn't feel joyful..I am letting it go. I have part time jobs that I put together as a giant puzzle so I can continue to develop my writings and websites. That is where my heart is. But it can be a challenge. I still am not making ends meet but they are waving at each other now so that feels good! LOL
One job I have had... and was so grateful for... simply was not always a match. Now I have another one to replace it that is! They offered me a job this past weekend, they like me, they really like me (lord I feel like Sally Field at the Oscars). I can be who I am and it feels just joyful. So now I have 2 part-time jobs...both simply joyful to be at. It has taken awhile to come together...but when you have it...you know it. And it is worth the sorting through to find it.
Joy spots...having my dog Pumpkin be so glad to see me after I have been gone longer than I planned. She is just...and shows it.
Joy spots...another if the time I take to spend with my great nieces and nephews. Simply joyful. There is no better feelings than having a child shout out your name and jump into your arms when they see you.
Joy spots...I have been instant messaging with a friend who is in China. A joy spot every time we talk. Joy spots..having coffee with people I care about. Joy spots...talking to family. Joy spot...staying connected to my circle of support and they know who they are. I would not still be here without them.
Joy spots don't have to cost money...though Las Vegas is a simply lovely joy spot for me and so is Jamaica...but right now those two places stay fixed in my memory whenever I want to revisit the joy I had there until I am able to go there in person again.
Take some time today to find at least three joy spots in your life. Three. So that as you walk through your day you can "visit" them. Oh..another one for me is a picture of my niece Stella that simply cracks me up. Every time I see it...instant joy!
You can do this. You absolutely can. No matter what is going on in your life. You can do this. If a drowning woman could hold on to them...I am telling you those life preserves are there for you too...just look. Today find one and it may lead you to another. Just look.
And I am willing to bet that by the end of the day you will be so happy you can recognize your joy spots for yourself that you will visit them again tomorrow and the next day and the day after that!
What does one of yours look like?
