I watched some clips on-line this morning of David Letterman talking about getting criticized for poking fun at Jay Leno. With the biggest grin on his face he said he was doing it because, "I'm really enjoying it. It's just fun!"
He looked happy as a clam. And I get the sense he will continue to do what he is doing...cause it's just fun. :)
So what are you going to do today...cause it's just fun? What do you like to do? What have you done lately that is fun?
For a long time I had a hard time with that question. In my work like a crazy monkey phase...that lasted quite awhile I simply could not tell you what I liked to do for fun. I just worked.
Someone once asked me what I liked to do when I wasn't working...I think I looked like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car! I did not have a clue.
I am not so clueless anymore. I like to do all sorts of things that are fun. I like watching movies, I like playing bejewel on Facebook and beating my sister :), I like having coffee with friends. I like window shopping and singing real loud..in my car with the windows closed out of respect for...well the entire world!
I could go on and on..as you know I can :) but you get the idea. Part of my vision for the life I am creating is having much joy and fun along the way. I am not oblivious to the pain and suffering in the world around me. I have lived knee deep in it for years. Yesterday I talked with someone whose working at saving her marriage, sent a card to a woman whose husband is dying, made another donation to Haiti relief, and told another person I would look for resources for their friend who is in trouble.
None of it overwhelmed me. I did what I could each time and then let it go and moved back to focusing on my little world where I am looking for joy.
I am making sure as I focus on my own world that I am doing things like Dave...just 'cause it's fun! And honestly ever since I have made one of my intentions this year to have more joy in my life ... more has appeared each and every day.
It is my life...my rules...my joy. It can be yours too. What are you going to do today just for the fun of it?
