Don't you just love to smell?! Well not stink...but then maybe you do :)! I mean take a deep breathe and just inhale all the wonderful smells around you. What joy that can bring!
That is the sense I missed most of all a few years ago when I lost three of my senses to a virus for awhile. I missed smell most of all. I love perfume. I don't wear it for you...I wear it for me. When I could not smell it ...what was the point? Sitting in a restaurant...passing a bakery making bread...all fabulous scents!
Remember waking up as a child to the smell of breakfast being made? I hope you have that kind of memory. It's a wonderful one. If you don't...create it now for yourself!
I am not denying the other kinds of smells in our lives :). As a child apparently everyone could tell when I took my tennis shoes off in the car!! :) I loved to do that just..well... just because it would cause such a stink!!! LOL!!!
What do you associate with smells? Do some bring you joy? Then surround yourself with them if you can... why do you think people keep the pillow their partner used after they are gone? It's because the smell brings them comfort.
I am going to see someone very soon who I have not seen for quite awhile. As soon as I am in his arms...I will know it's him by the scent his wears. I have never passed a counter in a store that sells
scents" without stopping to see if his is there. And if it is...I usually walk away from the counter with joy in my heart at the memories that scent has rekindled. I wish the same experiences for you as you recall smells that can and have brought you joy.
And don't worry..if we are ever in the car together...I will keep my tennis shoes on!!!!! :)
Tomorrow...taste.
I love smell too Jean - thanks for reminding us to be happy about these things! I love the smell of fresh rain, my cat (Wiley) and how Earl smells (my honey). I love how my house fills with the smells of cooking dinner every night, and the scents I put into my big bathtub while taking a bath!

I love all my senses...but living in the country I particularly love the smell of the sun on the dirt! Right now I smell of brown rice and banana spit up...my grandbaby so it smells good believe it or not! Thanks for remembering to be grateful for my sense of smell.

What is life but a picture book of sights sounds and smells. The smell of the earth after it rains, Flowers on the table, and roses roses roses as I walk my dog. Little puppy smell, the salt of the ocean, fresh baked cookies, dinner on the stove simmering all my senses. The smell of new books and old books. Earth, fire, the scent of the wind. Each smell is a journey of past present and hope. I cherish my sense of smell. Thanks for the reminder Jean.
