Here is what I have learned over the past several days...focusing on our senses. Life can be richer and fuller for us each and every day. It simply can.
We have to pay attention, be present and use what we already have. It is that simple.
Many of us get stuck in patterns where we just live our lives very rotely. We rush through things, get focused on getting from one spot to another and zip past the things that could increase our joy that may be right in front of us.
I know life can be a challenge but it also can be a gift and some of those gifts can come to us through our senses.
I am running late today but I took a phone call that could have gone to my voice-mail. I listened to a young man who I am guardian of. He was telling me that he was drinking coffee and just got home from church. He drinks coffee with cream and I told him that I liked mine black. He said I was crazy and I said he was goofy. He laughed and I laughed and after chatting a few more minutes we said goodbye.
I took the time to listen and while I am still late :) I had some moments of joy just connecting with him. I I took the time and was present. And that is a choice we make over and over each and every day.
I urge you to do that today no matter where you are in your life. Look at what you already have and use every one of your senses to experience things to the fullest. It's a gift you can give yourself every single day. I am committed to being more present and taking the time to slow down and experience those gifts each and every day.
I hope you do the same :)
