What would the world be like if each one of us took time out of our day to say thank you to folks we usually take for granted? I think the world would feel brighter and warmer and just more happy..so I say let's do it again!
Yesterday I asked you to thank someone who does things for you that you usually take for granted. I am not saying that you are not grateful for what they do...I am saying that after awhile we may just expect it ... and at some point that's not okay.
Did you thank someone yesterday? I did. I made a note on card-stock (my favorite paper!) for the people at the deli where I buy food sometimes. Their food is good...which I expect or I simply would not buy it. I say "thank you" when they hand me my purchase...but honestly it's just a rote thank you like I was brought up to do.
Tuesday I ate something they had made for my lunch...then I picked up the phone, called the deli and told the person answering that the food was fabulous! She was quite taken aback. She said they most often get phone calls from people complaining...rarely does someone call and say nice things!
That's when I decided to make my theme for the next few days...saying thank you. So I started by making them a thank you note. I dropped it off yesterday when I stopped by the store. As I was leaving the owner of the store was walking towards the deli with my thank you note in his hand. He stopped me and thanked me for the note. He said, "they will absolutely love this" with a big smile on his face.
What did that take? A bit of time and card-stock & clip art. Today I will do it again for someone else...I encourage you to do the same. Think of someone who does things for you...and say thank you in anyway that works for you.
If we want the world to brighter, more positive and just feel better...it has to start with us. And being thankful and saying so is a wonderful way to know we are doing our part.
