I just read an interesting quote by Thomas Leonard. He said, "Never give so much that you can't regenerate within the hour." What do you think about that? At first glance I liked it.
With that quote in mind I looked back quickly over the "book" of my life ...there have been many times when I have had spent myself where regeneration took days, months and finally years. I spent myself both good ways and many more not so good ways.
Life can have tremendous ups and downs and I am sure we have all ridden that roller coaster more than once. But maybe if we keep his quote in mind as we go forward...
Ah wait a minute...as I was just getting a cup of coffee thinking about this...I thought...I don't want that measured of a life! I love the roller coaster ride! I really do. Okay prolonged "dips" absolutely suck...but outside of that I love the ride.
You need to be this TALL to ride this ride! (don't you love that sign?) :) Here's my own warning about riding the roller coaster of life:
Here's what I can say that I want to be different about riding that roller coaster from now on.
- I want to take better care of myself so I can ride for the joy of it!
- I want to make sure I buckle myself in before I make sure everyone else is fine!
- I want to be well loved and well rested.
- I will make sure I have my own back.
And with that said...I shall get back in line for the next ride!
I appreciate Thomas Leonard's quote today...it made me think. And that's what other's words should always do. Take from them what you can and then turn your attention to your own life...and ride your own ride.
