For some reason all week I have found great amusement in all the penalties the Packer were hit with. I can't quite explain it. Maybe because I was watching the game on my parents giant TV and everything just was so big! But I have laughed more than once and reflected even more on the lessons their game presents to us all.
Here's a group of very talented men who it appeared just could not contain themselves to stay focused. Or at least that's what it looked like. From false starts to holding their opponents...to slamming them into the ground. If there was a penalty to be had...they did it.
So what is to learn? Well the holding penalty is an easy one. When you hold on too tight...you lose. You need to let go to move forward. Easy concept but it can be hard to do for all of us.
False starts...we all have had those. The key there is to wait until you know what you want...what direction you want to go in...that may cut down on the false starts. The only thing worse than a false start is no start :) so don't get caught up in how many times you have to readjust your plans. Do pay attention however if you keep taking off like a crazy person with no clear direction in mind. :) Unattractive at some point and very unproductive in the long run!
When you take your eyes off your goal..which is to win whatever it is you say you want...and are focused more on your opponents...you can lose track of your goal. Personal fouls say to me you are too focused on your opponents. We will all have people who try to stand in our way. But we need to focus on what we want and not on them.
If something or someone is in your way...get pass them and move on. Smacking them into the ground may feel good for the moment if they have been a problem to you...but that takes energy you could better use for your own best interest and goals. And hurting people to get what we want simply is not our style...it simply is not.
Ah football...who knew it could be so enlightening!
All in all I have appreciated the chance to learn some lessons from the Packer's game. Here's to a new game this week and less penalties for all of us. And more of that fabulous buttered popcorn mom!
*An appreciation of learning, is a study in good faith.
