I love step by step guides that teach me something. I find them helpful. What I have learned through trial and error is that it usually makes sense to follow the steps laid out the first time before I hopscotch over a few to the end. Just a tip :)
We are talking about spin control...how to take back control when you life starts to spin.
Step #1 Breathe
Step #2 Reach Out
Today Step #3 Clarify
Clarify. A very important step. You have to know what set you a spinn'. Something did...what was it? Keep asking yourself until you get to the bottom of it.
Sometimes it is external stuff...like someone did something to you ...or you believe they did. Maybe there is a person who is always negative and when you saw them they torn your ideas apart...you started self doubt and went a spinn'. Maybe you lost your job..maybe someone walked out on you...maybe someone died.
Ah maybe like some famous football player ...you sent texts to someone and that person shared them and now your world is a spinn'. Spinning can happen to anyone. Trust me. We just don't always see it.
Spinn' can also be caused by more internal things like feelings of stress, lack of sleep, lack of feeling safe or secure. There seems to me a domino effect with spinn'. One thing happens..then another and your spinn' speed increases. That's why it is so important to figure out what your triggers are.
That's also concsidered prevention work so you can put in some safeguards
to decrease those triggers having impact on you next time.
Example. If you don't get enough sleep everything grows in it's proportion. A small problem that you may have been able to deal with has now increased 10 times in size. With lack of sleep your perspective shifts and you can actually make things worst because you are not centered anymore. It makes recovery all the more difficult too.
President Bill Clinton said in his book that he had made most of his poor decisions when he was tired. Haven't we all?
So clarify what is setting you off. You may be surprised. Then again you may not be. You may just prefer to ignore it...and how's that working for you?
Tomorrow one more step...Step #4....Refocus.
